Music Therapy Internship Program
One of the many important components of the Center's mission is to educate and train music therapy interns and fieldwork students. Our internship program is designed to provide students with:
 |
Clinical experience through observing, co-leading,
and leading individual and group Music Therapy sessions |
 |
On-site supervision |
 |
Supervised analysis of video/audio tape sessions
and documentation |
 |
Guidance on preparing clinical presentations |
The Rebecca Center's programs have trained numerous music therapy interns and fieldwork students, providing them with clinical experience and quality supervision. The Center provides music therapy college professors with the assurance that each student being trained at the Center is receiving a high level of training and supervision, complimenting what is being taught in the classroom.
Through the Center's diverse on-site and outreach programs, students have an opportunity to acquire "real life" experiences in a variety of clinical settings. Our internship program is designed to provide students with clinical experience through observing, co-leading, and leading individual and group sessions. In addition, the Center provides on-site supervision, supervised analysis of video/audio tape of sessions and their documentation, guidance on preparing clinical presentations, and instruction on clinical musicianship and improvisation. In addition, students learn the "ins" and "outs" of a successful music therapy business/private practice, such as building client relationships, strategic budget planning, management skills, researching grants and other funding sources, skills in event planning, and program research.
