             Require Special Care ...

The Rebecca Center serves a diverse population, both through our on-site clinic and through several outreach programs at prominent healthcare facilities throughout Long Island and New York. Our on-site clinic at Molloy College serves children and adolescents, ages 4-18, diagnosed with developmental delays, autism, Asperger's, learning disabilities, pervasive developmental delays, attention deficit disorders, neurological impairments, speech and language delays, Down syndrome, physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, and emotional difficulties. Outreach programs at Housing Works and Rivington House in New York City serve adults living with HIV/AIDS and substance abuse. At the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center, in Roslyn, N.Y., our programs serve children and adolescents diagnosed within the autistic spectrum and elderly clients living with Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Meeting the Needs
     With
          Diversity ...

Music Therapy is an interpersonal process in which the therapist draws upon all of the aspects of music to help clients improve, restore or maintain health and/or psychological and social functioning. The natural power of music and the non-threatening nature of the therapy create an environment in which unique outcomes are possible. The Rebecca Center seeks out professionals that specialize in particular approaches to most effectively meet the needs of our diverse clientele. The Rebecca Center is the only music therapy center in New York that offers a wide spectrum of music therapy approaches.

Using Music to Change Lives

The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy's approach involves interactive use of live improvised music to stimulate and develop communication, expressiveness, socialization and relationship. First developed by Paul Nordoff and Clive Robbins, the approach is based on the belief that "all people have musical sensitivities that can be activated for personal growth and development." - Nordoff-Robbins

The Rebecca Center employs a diverse staff of music therapists, each specializing in a specific area and approach to music therapy. Quality Assurance

The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy believes that quality standards must be established, monitored, and evaluated to insure quality treatment services are provided and standards are met and/or exceeded. The Rebecca Center Quality Management Program features:

    Client Satisfaction Surveys
Clients are canvassed to assess their feedback regarding their satisfaction with our services. Based on the feedback aspects of programs can be modified to better mirror client needs and wishes.

    Performance Standards
We monitor our treatment standards against CBMT standards (Certified Board for Music Therapists) and the AMTA codes (American Association for Music Therapists).

    Clinical Staffing
The clinical team, which includes the Executive Director, Clinical Director, and clinicians review the progress of clients at clinical staff meetings and in individual clinical supervision.

    Individual Supervision
Therapists caseload is supervised by the Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Suzanne Sorel.

All of these activities are utilized to monitor the quality of our services. The results of these reviews helps us to identify where changes need to be made, how we may plan those changes, as well as to assess those changes to insure that our services have improved.
